This weekend we were up in Prince Albert for Jackson's last hockey tournament of the year...and what a tournament it was.
Placing 3rd going into the playoffs the Warriors would have to win their next two games to make it to the final. An early morning start on Sunday, 8am to be exact, we thought would be a tough start to the day...and we thought wrong~well, really it was the parents who would suffer more from the early start. The boys dug deep with a big win to move to the semi-final. The semi-final game was a nail biter right to the end resulting in a shoot out that gave the parents a heart attack~at least for the parents of Nathan Jule our goalie. At the end of the shoot- out Nathan was asked by Jayson what he thought of the game. Nathan's reply was, "it was more stressful than playful"!
And I must let all of you know that Jackson won the "HARD HAD" which goes to the hardest worker on the team~his smile was ear to ear! Way to go Jackson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After a short break and refueling the kids with Subway, the boys got ready for their first final of the year boy were they ready to go!
Scoring two quick goals in the first period some of us parents thought we had it in the bag....but we were wrong. Dalmany came back to tie it up and the boys needed to dig a little deeper. Ethan Matheson then gave us our go ahead goal with Jackson following up with another. Once again the parents thought we had it with just minutes left in the 3rd period...but we thought wrong. Once again Dalmany tied up the game and we found ourselves, like in game 4, going to a shoot out. With the fans going crazy and great goal tending by Nathan Fisher we were able to hold off the strong Dalmany team and win our very first tournament. And Jackson was awarded player of the game!!!!!
Congratulations Red Wing Warriors!!!!!!
