yes my friends, were are once again in Fernie...and you know how happy that makes me!!
i often get asked WHY we love Fernie and 'do you really go with your whole family'? Hell yah! for as long as i can remember i've been going to the mountains to ski with my family. that's one of the perks of mom and dad owning a ski hill~Mark Valley Ski Hill, at Lake of the Prairies. my most favorite memories are of travelling out west with the anticipation of getting on a chair lift and skiing as fast as i could down the hill with no poles. and now, jackson and mackenzie, and maddie, are doing the very same thing.... except jackson can't wait to learn to ski with poles and mackenzie and maddie are in an all day ski and play school. I don't think they even had ski and play programs when i was their age. mom and dad just sent me (i was 6yrs) and jason kelewchuck(?) on our way and then i get lost, hit a tree and was found by ski patrollers who sent me on my way after digging me out of the snow. yes, that is a true story folks. so now it is my turn to create those wonderful memories for mackenzie and jackson...spending time with grandma and grandpa kenco, auntie jenn, uncle jason and maddie and uncle bruce. do we all drive each other crazy? sure we do, but that's part of the fun and i would not want it any other way!!
and why Fernie? well it has the best programs for children and well, the best snow we've ever skied. it doesn't matter that we have been going to Fernie for 10yrs, there is always something new and this year it's the new Polar Peak Lift!! more vertical and more snow. the get-off point at the top of the chair is above the clouds...i shit you not!! just google polar peek lift in Fernie~i will try and find a link for you.
so.....today is sunday and we usually head out bright and early in the morning. the adults were slow to start but the kids, well they have a room to themselves and felt getting up at 6:15am was a good start to the day. unfortunately the snow gods were taking a nap today and mother nature sent the dreary rain to spoil our day. lucky for us, up top it's snowing and that is where we are headed tomorrow.
